3 Tips For Cleaning Your Outdoor Windows

Posted on: 12 January 2015

Outdoor windows can get very dirty. Over time they can become damaged with all the exposure to hard water and elements. Luckily, there are a couple things that you can do to make sure that you keep your windows in the best condition possible, and as clean as possible. Here are 3 tips for keeping your windows looking nice.

1. Use Vinegar

One of the best ways to remove hard water stains is to use vinegar. This is a cheap and very effective way to clean your windows. In order to do this you should mix a solution of half part water to half part vinegar. Then spray it all over the window so it is nicely soaked. Once it is soaked you will need to leave it soaking for at least 5 minutes. This will help the solution to really eat into the hard water spots. After which, you should use a soft cloth to get the window really wet. You can then use a squeegee to remove all of the water. If there are any spots that are dripping you can use a dry towel to clean it off.

The vinegar will be cheaper, but as effective as many strong industrial cleaners at getting off hard water stains.

2. Use A Razor

In some cases you will get stains on the windows that need a little more effort to get off. Most windows are very strong, so if you put a thin razor flat on the window, you should be able to shave off any of the calcium deposits that might have accumulated there. In addition, you might have paint spills on your windows from a recent home project. The easiest way to remove these stains, if they are large, is to first use a razor to get the largest parts off, then take the vinegar solution and try to clean the rest.

3. Use Jet Dry

Many people think that Jet Dry can only be used for cleaning dishes, but it can also be used for cleaning windows. Just mix a solution of Jet Dry, water and dish or laundry detergent. This will make your windows look sparkly clean, just like it does your dishes. And the Jet Dry might even protect your windows from having future problems with hard water stains.

These are just three simple ways to clean your windows. If you still have problems after trying these tips, contact a professional window cleaning company like H Breiter Window Cleaning.
